HB 1473 by Cecil Bell Relating to the authority of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and a Physician Assistant to sign or issue certain documents.

Senate Bill 466 by Rodriguez
SB 466 by Jose Rodriguez Relating to the affidavit required to be exempt from jury service due to a physical or mental impairment.

 

Death Certificate: This bill allows APRNs to sign a death certificate and amends statutes to allow for facilities to amend policies to allow APRNs to declare death.

Coalition Building

TNP participated and worked with the Senate Hispanic Caucus, MALDEF and the Center for Public Policy Priorities effort to develop a legislative agenda for Hispanic legislators. TNP works with Senator Rodriguez on the importance of utilizing NPs to their full potential in Texas. Click here for a copy of the final report.

 

Code Red Task Force

By invitation of Dr. Eileen Breslin, dean and professor of the School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) San Antonio, TNP worked with the Code Red Task Force to develop a recommendation for full practice authority for APRNs.  To read the report, click here.

 

Medicare Part D Non-Interference

TNP signed signed on to the attached group letter regarding Medicare Part D Non-Interference.  The letter also available along with a short statement on the National Osteoporosis Foundation website.
