Title: Management of Pain in Any Setting

This seminar targets APRNs practicing in any practice environment initiating or continuing treatment of pain syndromes. The information is designed to inform and update the audience regarding best practices. The seminar will review the latest rules and regulations, assessment of the patient’s opioid appropriateness, drug seeking behaviors, maintenance of provider-patient relationship after opioid concerns arise, and key conversation points.

Presenter: Dr. Kelley Pennel, DNP, ASNS-BC
Dr. Pennell is an active clinician specializing in pain management. In addition to clinician endeavors, she holds a Pain Management Expert Witness contract with the Board of Nursing and has a position with Galveston College. Her passion as a clinician is to strive to improve the journey for patients suffering from chronic pain syndromes. Her passion as a peer is to ensure APRNs are armed with the knowledge needed to safely treat those with pain complaints in any setting.

Learner Outcomes:

1. The audience will report updating one or more pain management strategies related to rules and regulations in the treatment of pain.

Accreditation:
Learners will be awarded 1 Contact Hour, including 1 hour of Opioids, 1 hour towards the DEA requirement. Completion of the course and evaluation are required.
