Title: Enhancing HIV Patient Care
Description:
Texas faces a critical public health challenge with one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the U.S., requiring targeted health interventions. Barriers to HIV testing include limited access, awareness, stigma, and provider communication challenges. To address this, the ‘RAISED’ framework ('Recognition, Awareness, Inclusivity, Stigma-free, Educated Decisions') can empower healthcare providers to feel comfortable with offering HIV testing and communicating to patients about sensitive topics. Aligned with Austin Public Health and the Fast Track Cities, ‘RAISED’ leverages patient-centric communication strategies for increasing HIV testing and awareness. The primary objective is to educate non-HIV specialist providers in Texas on how to improve communication surrounding HIV. The secondary objective is to update providers on best practices for current testing, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of HIV.
