Presenter: Dr. Michelle Hext, DNP, APRN, CPNP-BC, FNP-C, ENP-C, PMHNP-BC
Michelle Hext is a quadruple board certified nurse practitioner with a passion for children's mental health. She currently serves as an assistant professor at Lamar University JoAnn Gay Dishman School of Nursing and works in primary care pediatrics within a Federally Qualified Health Center serving at risk children. She also has her own psychiatric practice serving children and adults. Dr. Hext obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and her post-masters as a family and emergency trauma nurse practitioner at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She later obtained her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner post-masters at McNeese State University, and lastly her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.

Learner Outcome:
At the end of the presentation, the learner will be able to locate evidence-based screening resources to identify mental illness in primary care, as well as identify 1 new evidence-based practice guideline for mental health management in primary care.
